About Clan Logan Charitable Trust

Preserving the history, heritage and culture of Clan Logan.

About Us

Who We Are

Clan Logan Charitable Trust is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO), registered with OSCR under number SC054035. We were established to ensure that the history of Clan Logan — one of Scotland’s oldest families — is researched, preserved, and made available to Logan descendants and history enthusiasts around the world.

The Logan name has roots stretching back to at least the 12th century. From the Logans of Restalrig and Ayrshire in the Lowlands, to their Highland kin in Ross and Cromarty, the family played a significant role in the story of Scotland. Our work honours that legacy and ensures it is not forgotten.

Our Mission Statement

Clan Logan Charitable Trust is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO), registered with the Office of Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) under number SC054035. We were established in 2025 to ensure that the history of Clan Logan — one of Scotland’s oldest families — is researched, preserved, and made available to Logan descendants and history enthusiasts around the world.

The Scottish Logan surname has roots stretching back to at least the 12th century. From the Logans of the Highlands to the Logans of Restalrig in Edinburgh to the Logans of Ayrshire and beyond, the family played a significant role in the story of Scotland. Our work honours that legacy and ensures it is not forgotten.

The Trust’s purposes are:

  1. To advance the arts, heritage and culture of Scotland as well as advancing education in the cultural heritage, history and traditions of Clan Logan for the benefit of the public in Scotland and elsewhere by:
    • promoting and supporting research into the study of the origins, history and other characteristics of Clan Logan, other Scottish Clans and Scottish organisations;
    • holding a family convention open to all, to affirm the appointment of a Commander whose role will prioritise both searching for a hereditary Chief of the clan, and equally, representing the clan at all relevant opportunities. This purpose was completed in April of 2025!
    • publishing the results of all related research and providing information using any medium of communication;
    • promoting and supporting such conferences, meetings, study tours, talks, film shows, cultural and other events as will lead to the dissemination of knowledge useful for and conducive to the purposes of the SCIO;
    • exploring, preserving or assisting in preserving sites, buildings, monuments, memorials, articles of any kind and musical, literary and artistic traditions which are of historic interest connected with Clan Logan and/or with Scotland, whether vested in the SCIO or not; and
    • promoting and establishing a centre or centres in Scotland or elsewhere for (amongst other things) the preservation and exhibition of such articles as are specified in (e) above, including, in time, a research and study library.
  2. To advance the education of young people who are eligible to be (but need not be) voting members of the SCIO by granting scholarships or bursaries through other charities to assist with their studies; and
  3. To promote such other purposes which are exclusively charitable according to the law of Scotland and are connected with the charitable purposes of the SCIO, as the Board of Trustees shall determine in their absolute discretion from time to time.
