Clan Logan Society International is expanding our publications. You’re now subscribed to the new Clan Logan Society International content published on Substack.

We’ve divided our content into three streams. Instead of one long newsletter, we’ll offer three distinct online magazines to delight your sweet little Logan heart.

Genealogy, History, & Heritage Features
Our Valour will continue to provide the high quality, in-depth stories, family research, archival discoveries, and heritage features you’re accustomed to receiving. Our Valour is available for Society members only.

Events & Gatherings
Logan Connections is where you’ll find announcements and reports about gatherings, Zoom events, festivals, and the like, helping you stay connected to your extended Logan family. This publication will be produced primarily for the wider audience, with occasional special editions reserved for Society members only.

Clan News & Announcements
The Heart of Logan will cover clan news, leadership updates on the search for the chief, children’s pages, recipes, announcements, and other relevant bits. Most of these editions will be available to everyone, with some special editions for Society members only.

You’ll receive each one at first. You may enjoy all three streams — or you may prefer just one or two.

We understand that everyone has different interests. You can easily manage your subscription preferences to receive only the ones you care about. Just click “Manage subscription” at the bottom of any email.

If you are a current member of Clan Logan Society International, you’ve already been added to our paid membership tier on Substack — at no additional cost.

You will automatically receive all three content streams as part of your membership benefits.

There is nothing you need to do.

Article submissions

Finally, submissions are now open for future editions of all three publications. If you’re interested in submitting an article, please drop us a note by email to [email protected].

We can take a wide range of word counts. We’ll want your polished, well-written story in Word, and any images as separate attachments (e.g., don’t embed them in the document, please). And don’t forget captions! Include a photo of yourself for story credits.

Here are some topic ideas which you could write on specific to Logans, to Scotland or Ireland, or to the diaspora:

• A Logan Heirloom I Love: origin, story, care tips
• My First Highland Games: what surprised me, what I learned
• Archive Adventure: one document that changed my tree (with research steps)
• Recipe With Roots: ingredient story + a modern twist
• Place Memory: a visit to a site with Logan connections
• Travel and migration: Logan migration stories
• Scottish customs: that have spread throughout the world
• Highland games reports: and pictures!
• Scottish nursery rhymes, children’s stories: take us back to the old days and teach our kids today
• Your Legacy: what shall we pass along?
• More: Stories of general interest to Society members

If you’re interested in contributing an article to one or more Clan Logan Society International publication, let us know, and we will send you a writer’s guide.

Then, you send in your 1–2 sentence pitch or a completed piece to [email protected].

Youth are encouraged to submit as well.
